Central Neighbourhood House is currently seeking an experienced Director, Child Care Services.
Central Neighbourhood House is a multi- service agency, serving the downtown east community of Toronto.  Among these services CNH operates two full-service Daycare centres, along with family support programs and new initiatives.
Position Summary
As the Director, Child Care Services, you are responsible for the overall program, administration and community development of child care services provided by CNH, and will oversee Daycare centres at multiple locations. You should be well versed in goal setting, strategic planning and operational effectiveness.  As a team builder you stimulate your staff to put forward their best efforts in providing an enriched learning experience for the children in their care.  As a global thinker you recognize new opportunities for improving service delivery, whether within the present programs or through new initiatives.
The Director, Child Care Services is a member of the Senior Management team and will work with other Directors to plan the overall direction for the agency and provide counsel and advice. Working in partnership with other community agencies you will promote health and well being of local parents and children, establish new services to fill community needs, engage in activities that promote the development of the non-profit sector, provide for adequate funding for the CNH Daycare division as a whole and advocate for children and their families.
Qualifications
You have at least five (5) years experience in a senior management position with a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and/or ECE from a recognized institution, and are a member in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators.  You will require a  thorough understanding  of the DNA, and have  significant experience in a leadership position in a not for profit child care setting.

Program Coordinator, More Than Child’s Play

More Than Child's Play strives to meet the diverse needs of parents and children in the local community. MTCP provides support services and information resources to parents and caregivers and children which encourage optimal social, emotional, and physical development in an atmosphere of equality, security, and harmony.

Position Summary:
The Program Coordinator is a self-motivated position required to develop, coordinate and implement community responsive programs for parents/caregivers and their children 0-6 years. There is a strong focus on collaboration and partnership building with external community agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Develop, implement and evaluate programs for children (age 0-6), parents and caregivers.
•Ensure all programs and services are delivered in cooperation and/or coordinated with community based partnering agencies.
•Maintain accurate record keeping, information boards, monthly calendars, daily program plans and other administrative tasks.
•Facilitate workshops/information sessions for participants of program
•Participate in monthly staff meetings
•Participate in fundraising, outreach and other community events as representative of MTCP
•Supervise and support students and volunteers.
•Maintain a level of professionalism while building meaningful relationships with the participants of the programs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Degree/diploma in Early Childhood Education
•Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
•Previous experience working with children (0-6), parents and caregivers in a not for profit environment. (ideally in a Family Resource setting)
•Excellent Interpersonal communication skills
•Clear Police Reference Check
•First Aid/CPR
•Knowledge of Parkdale and the needs of the community
•Understanding of Child Development
•Demonstrated ability in planning/implementing high quality programs for a diverse community
•Proven leadership abilities
•Computer literate in Microsoft Office, Excel, Publisher, Internet and email.

The Program Coordinator position is a full time contract position with the possibility of renewal annually.  The salary is $19/hr and includes a generous extended Health Benefits package.

The start date is Sept 20, 2010.

This position will manage the day-to-day operations of Robertson House Centre for Early
Development, serving children from infancy to age 6, and their families. The incensored wordbent will work with Mothercraft’s foundational theories (Attachment, Developmental and Relational theories) and adhere to policies, procedures and all legislative and regulatory standards.

Mothercraft provides this position with support in Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, and Facility and IT Management.

Major responsibilities:

   Manage a high quality childcare centre, ensuring healthy child development;
•   Hire, orient, train, mentor and supervise and conduct performance appraisals for staff
•   With support, manage staff schedules, monitor attendance, ensuring adequate staff coverage to meet Ministry defined   
                ratios.
•   Develop and implement enhanced, responsive and integrated family and child programming in conjunction with staff,

•   Ensure linkages with the community and cross-departmental collaboration within Mothercraft, and that programs are

Qualifications:
The incensored wordbent should possess a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and preferably, a Childcare Management Certificate. Current ECE registration in good standing with the College of ECEs is required.   

The incensored wordbent should possess at least five years’ management experience in a childcare and/or family resource program setting, with experience in community development and working with the broader community. Infant and toddler experience are essential. He/She must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong supervisory, interpersonal relations, conflict resolution and problem solving skills. The incensored wordbent must have a strong knowledge of childcare day-to-day operations, of community resources in early development, be responsive to family needs and be able to work in a fast-paced environment. He/She must also be resourceful, proactive and possess an entrepreneurial spirit. Knowledge in Ministry Licensing regulations, requirements and Criteria, Day Nurseries Act and Child & Family Services Act are required. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite is essential. Travel within the GTA and occasional evening and weekend work required. French language is an asset.

With the passing of Bill 168, an Act to amend the Occupational Health and Safety Act related to violence and harassment in the workplace, Child Care Agencies will need to update their existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with these new and onerous legal obligations. Fines for failing to comply with this legislation from the Ministry of Labour can be up to $500,000. These legislated amendments will become effective June 15, 2010.
